OBITUARY.

Funeral services for the late Albert Griswold will be held at the chapel in Elm Lawn cemetery Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, and friends of the family are invited to be present.

Frank Grajek, aged 22 years, passed away Tuesday evening after a long illness at his home, 720 Sherman street, south. He is survived by his mother, five sisters and one brother. The funeral  will take place Saturday morning at 9 o’clock from St. Stanislaus church, with interment in St. Stanislaus cemetery.

James Malone, of 1901 Elizabeth street, died Tuesday evening after a short illness. He was 87 years old and is survived by one niece, Mrs. William Lighto of New York city, and three nephews, Edwin Malone of this city, Richard of Long Beach, California, and Edward of New York city. The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Interment at Pine Ridge cemetery. Friends are requested to omit flowers.

John Burgess, aged 74 years old died at his home, 1105 Transit street, Tuesday evening, death following a lingering illness. He was born in America in 1879, and has been a [Unreadable/Missing Text] of Bay City for 37 years. He is survived by his wife and one [Unreadable/Missing Text]Mrs F. B. Jones of this city; two sons, William of Bay City and John of Traverse City. Ten grandchildren also survive. Mr. Burgess was a nephew of the late W[Unreadable/Missing Text] Benson of this city. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the residence with interment in Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mrs. Joseph Weiler died this morning at her home on Ninth street, after an illness of several months. She has been a resident of Bay City for the past 40 years and is well known here. Surviving her are two sons, Albert and Edward; eight daughters, Mrs. John Popp, Mrs. William Wagner, Mrs. P. Wagner, Mrs. F. Nemode, Mrs. H. Fritz, Mrs. J. Young, Mrs. C. Wagner, Mrs. H. Van Hoof and Mrs. F. Auman; also two brothers, Conrad Schnurr, of Walkerton, Ont., and Andrew Schnurr, of Mildmay, Ont. Two sisters, Mrs. Bonem, of Canada, and Mrs. C. Myers, of Washington, D. C., are the other survivors. Funeral announcements will be made later.

The funeral of Dr. Ewin E. Sweet took place Monday morning at 9 o’clock from St. Boniface church. The church was crowded during the ceremony, a solemn high mass of requiem being sung. Rev. Father Wyss, pastor of the church, said the mass, and was assisted by Rev. Father VanRooy, of Essexville. The sermon was delivered by Rev. Father Thiefels, of St. Joseph’s church, a friend of Dr. Sweet. Miss Cecillia Nolet, sang “Oh, Dry Those Tears,” after the mass was over. The pall bearers were members of the Bay City Council, 414 Knights of Columbus, Dentists of Saginaw and Bay City, affiliated with the Dental society, of which Dr. Sweet was an officer, attended the funeral in a body. Members of the Elks and Kiwanis clubs, of which he was a member, also attended the funeral. Interment was in St. Patrick’s cemetery.

George Bauer, aged 77, for 70 years a resident of Frankenlust township, died Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Catherine Englehardt. Born in Germany, he came to America with his parents when 7 years old. He was married September 20, 1873, to Wilhelmina Kerkau, who survives him, with six children: Mrs. George Rauschert, Mrs. George Nuffer and Mrs. George Schmidt, Amalith [sic]; Mrs. Henry Meisel, Kochville township, Saginaw county, Mrs. Catherine Englehardt and and Michael Bauer, Frankenlust; one sister, Mrs. M. Hall, Bay City, and one brother, John Bauer, Saginaw. The funeral will take place at 1:30 o’clock Friday afternoon from the home and at 2 o’clock from St. Paul’s Lutheran church at Frankenlust. Rev. George Nuechterlein will officiate and burial will be in St. Paul’s cemetery, Frankenlust.
